What is Nonduality?

Awakening and Liberation

eputkonen's picture

Sometimes Awakening is called Liberation. We think we are making progress in the process of freeing ourselves from bondage…but Awakening (i.e. Liberation) is realizing you were never in bondage in the first place. Upon Awakening, you clearly realize that all of that time you spent in the process of freeing yourself from bondage was the delusion of bondage itself.

Enjoying the Illusion

eputkonen's picture

Although there was the realization that the world is an illusion...I am still entertained and find joy in the illusion. I used to be a magician and do street shows at festivals. I know the cups and balls routine very well and I know exactly how it is done. And yet, this has not destroyed the wonder, joy, and entertainment of still seeing it. I know what I am seeing is not real, but I can still interact and have fun with it all the same.

Pain vs. Suffering

eputkonen's picture

What is the difference between pain versus suffering?

Pain is what the body experiences...suffering is the mentally created agony beyond actual pain (if any pain). Have you ever heard the phrase, "don't look or it will hurt more?" That hurting more is suffering...the hurting before you look is pain.

The Self
