These people may look like gold and they may glitter like gold, but they have no real value. There are many people who can put on a show and fool other people into believing they are enlightened.

Fake Guru

I do agree with you my dear.
There are also such proclaimed guru, who are misleading the true seekers and claiming them selves right.
Thanks for your quote.

There are also those who believe themselves to be enlightened and so appoint themselves as guru without intending any deception. I would say these far outnumber the charlatans.

There are also those who are enlightened and who knock themselves out to get the truth to others, despite unpleasantness. Nisargadatta was one of these, but many may be unnoticed and unsung. Jesus was an example of one who may have been 'awake' and got killed for his attempts to spread the truth. People are not only uninterested in truth, but often directly against it. Most just want "pretty" words and concepts that support their beliefs.

I see the truth of that more deeply all the time. I consider my 'level of clarity' to be humble, and yet I see how even that angers and terrifies people. Discussions have always been a huge part of my exploration, but I see that they are comming to an end because I'm no longer willing to be despised for talking about it.

I mean no offense, but much of that 'despising' is in your mind. This is the internet... for the most part, folks don't know you and don't care who you are.

Nobody knows anybody and nobody cares. The intervent is a place for hate and intollerance to gather. It's especially ugly when it pretends to be spiritual.

Seriousness

IMO, "they" take things too seriously and so do you ;-).

As I see it...

... there are only two 'things': Truth (the Now, the present, 'what is'), and falsehood (remembered past, and projected future). The entire complexity of the human condition is based on this one duality. The person, the ego, what have you, is all based on resistance, "threads of memories and habits" (as Nisargadatta puts it).

"Ego" is only a convenient way to look at falsehood... there's really no such beast. Things may not be as they currently appear to you.

I know, Tim. It's okay. Sometimes events conspire to discourage me or piss me off and today that happened. I don't do anything to hide it or fix it, and that's what I mean by 'it is what it is'. It'll pass, but I doubt if my perceptions about the intent of the average Truth seeker will change anytime soon. That also is what it is, at least until it isn't.

At least I'd like to be able to say that what you see is what you get. I don't hold back and I don't hide behind masks.

An honest question, then...

"At least I'd like to be able to say that what you see is what you get. I don't hold back and I don't hide behind masks."

Is it a matter of pride for you?

Nope, it's a matter of being that which I claim to be seeking.

There must be by definition...

By definition, there must be. For example your statement - you do believe that it is true...
