GURU IS NOT NEEDED BUT GUIDENCE IS NEEDED IN SPRITUAL QUEST

Santthosh
HI LILIAN,

GURU IS NECESSARY ONLY IN RELIGION BASED SELF REALIZATION. IN SPIRITUALITY SELF IS YOUR OWN GURU.YOU MAY REQUIRE GUIDANCE FROM THE SPIRITUAL MASTER BUT HE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANYONE AS HIS DISCIPLE BUT HE ONLY GUIDES AND HELPS THE SEEKER AND SHOWS WAY TO OVERCOME THE OBSTACLES WHEN THE SEEKER IS IN CONFUSION AND DOUBTS. THUS GURU IS NOT NEEDED BUT ONLY GUIDANCE IS NEEDED.
WITH RESPECT AND REGARDS.

"The aim is to awaken yourself to the faith in the self, 'I am'. That is the entire purpose. So whatever is inducive to that development you may accept. Suppose you have faith in a living guru, then accept a living guru. If you have faith in a guru who has left his body, accept that guru." - from "Experience of Nothingness"

It is needed. The practitioner should have served (or learnt from) a living Guru at least a brief period during his life time.
