Ya'akov ben Shalom is the founder and Nasi (Holy Leader) of the Essene Yahad International.

He was born into a very poor family, served for a time in the military where he began to take spiritual life seriously.

He finally embraced non-violence and went on a personal spiritual quest that took him through many religions and experiences.

After receiving a vision of Yeshua (Jesus), he began studying both Judaism and Christianity closely. His studies and subsequent spiritual experiences led him to the conclusion that Christianity had strayed from the way of the historical Yeshua, who lived as a Torah observant Jew.

Subsequently it was revealed to him that Yeshua was an Essene, and that his teachings reflected a perfection of Essene teaching. He set about restoring the Essene faith, with its unique mystical teachings of Kabbalah that shed light on many of the lost meanings and hidden teachings of Yeshua and the original twelve sh'liachim (apostles).

Ya'akov also claims the only historically verifiable lineage of spiritual authority going back to Yeshua Himself.

Ya'akov ben Shalom teaches the following:

That Ein Sof (the Eternal One)is the Creator and ruler of all created things. Ein Sof is the Creator and Sustainer, Immanent and Transcendent. Beyond gender, time, space and description, Ein Sof is unknowable without bestowing a divine revelation.

That Ein Sof has given this revelation in the Sefirot, and as the manifestation of Elohim. Elohim is echad (one), yet revealed as three emanations; Abba Yahweh, the Father, Yeshua HaMoshiach, The Son, and Imma Ruach HaKodesh, the Holy Spirit (also called the Mother). The Sefirot are the characteristics of Ein Sof, and are: Keter (rulership), Binah (understanding), Da'at (knowledge), Chochmah (wisdom), Gevurah (might), Tiferet (beauty), Chesed (compassion), Netzach (victory), Hod (acknowledgment), Yesod (foundation), Malchut (kingdom).

Though Ein Sof is beyond gender, Ein Sof has revealed certain characteristics that are masculine and feminine. Thus, Yahweh represents the Divine Masculine aspect of Ein Sof, and Ruach HaKodesh expresses the Divine Feminine, the Mother.

That Yeshua is the long awaited Messiah, the only begotten Son, beloved of His Father in heaven, whom Yahweh sent into this world to be our Master and Redeemer, as He promised by his holy prophets, and who descended from heaven for our salvation. He was mystically conceived of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), born of the virgin Miriam, the seed of David and anointed of Yahweh. He was tempted in all ways as we are but without sin. He glorified his Father in heaven in all of His words, thoughts and deeds. He bore the reproach of sinners and was put to death on the tree for our transgressions. He was wounded for our transgressions, and bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him and by His stripes we are healed. Messiah Yeshua is the Alef and the Tav, the beginning and the end. Yeshua is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to Abba except through Him. The prophets prophesied of Messiah Yeshua through Yahweh’s foreordained wisdom and knowledge.

He teaches that the Torah given through Moshe is eternal and binding for talmidim. The Torah contains the transcendental precepts by which we are to live our spiritual lives. That the whole Torah which we now possess is the same as that given to Moshe. Ya'akov also teaches the necessity of Essene oral Torah, as this is where many of the lost teachings are revealed.

He teaches that Sacred Scripture as written by the original writers in the original language is the Word Of Ein Sof. He affirms the Tanak, the Brit Chadasha, the Apocrypha, the Ketuvim Assayanim, the Book of Jasher and the Book of Enoch as Sacred Scripture.

He rejects the concept of eternal torment, stating that Elohim knows the hearts and minds of all human beings. No one is lost to His love, mercy or tender gaze, even though some will have to be purified in the spiritual realm in a way that is certainly unpleasant.

He teaches that Elohim will reward those made righteous through the atonement purchased for us by Messiah Yeshua on the tree. Those who reject His mercy and love will reap the results of their hard-heartedness. Furthermore, Yeshua is our Kohen Gadol, and our Teacher of Righteousness interceding on our behalf before Yahweh.

Yeshua will return to set up His Eternal earthly kingdom and rule the world on David’s throne from the New Jerusalem. In this He will have fulfilled the prophetic Essene roles of the Suffering Messiah, the Royal Messiah, and the Priestly Messiah.

He teaches that the dead will be raised and the righteous shall be changed. He also teaches the principle of Gilgul, the reincarnation of certain souls. He teaches that the human soul is a tiny spark of the energy of Ein Sof that was dispersed throughout creation, and raised to an enlightened state by those who pursue spiritual life and actualize the sefirot within themselves. This process of Self Realization leads to an enlightened state of consciousness.

Daven (prayer) and meditation are our the primary methods of communication with Ein Sof and His Holiness encourages his talmidim to seek to lead lives filled with their attentiveness.

All talmidim must observe the Principle of Kashrut in their diet. Further, he strongly encourages the organic Edenic Diet (vegetarianism) as most befitting our future life in the Eternal Kingdom. He demands that talmidim do not judge those who choose not to maintain the Edenic Diet, but no one may be an Essene unless they keep Kashrut.

He teaches that entering the waters of Mikveh is an outer sign of an inner transformation. He teaches that it is a necessary component of spiritual realization, and in the frequent renewal of this covenantal sign and mark of purity.

He teaches that non-violence is a mandatory precept for talmidim and that anyone breaking this precept is in a fallen state.

He teaches the necessity of continued leadership of shaliachim in possession of a historic succession of laying on of hands stemming from Yeshua Himself down to him today. All talmidim, while disciples of Yeshua, are also at the same time talmidim of the Nasi, Ya'akov ben Shalom, from whom they should learn, and to whom they should submit as the representative of Yeshua. The honor shown him is only by virtue of the teaching and Presence of Ein Sof that he conveys and bestows on talmidim.

He teaches that stewardship of the earth is a sacred obligation. He encourages organic farming, sustainable living, and eco-theological understanding. His spiritual teachings also contain an emphasis on the interconnectedness of the universe and humanity.

His Holiness also teaches that women are equal to any male talmidim in as much as they demonstrate zeal for spiritual life and sincere devotion and knowledge. Thus he annoints women to serve as leaders in the Essene Yahad.
