Swami Suddhananda was born at Satapura, a small typical rural village near Cuttack, in Odisha, India.

After doing his Master’s degree in english literature, he joined a full time Vedanta study at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya in Bombay with Swami Chinmayananda, a direct student of Swami Sivananda.

Under the guidance of Swami Dayananada he studied the scriptures of Advaita Vedanta of Adi Sankara Acharya.

In 1983 the Samvit Sagar Trust, Suddhananda foundation for self knowledge, and Akshar Educational Trust were established in Chennai, India with the main purpose of making his vision be available.

He conducts regular classes and residential camps in his ashrams in Uthandi and Tiruvanamalai in Tamil Nadu and in Odisha.

He is invited by universities in India and abroad and travels abroad to conduct courses and workshops and to share his teaching.

He is the author of of more than 30 books.

He gave a speech at the United Nations Peace Conference in 2000 at New York.

Centers in UK, South Africa and Germany support his teachings.


His teaching is based on the vedantic tradition of self enquiry.
