Biography
Jesus (also called Christ which means king or Messiah) was actually born 6–2 B.C. Western civilization marks his birth by dividing time B.C. (before Christ) and A.D. (Anno Domini - or the year of our Lord). For his first thirty years, Jesus lived a traditional Jewish life, working as a carpenter. There also is an isolated account of Joseph, Mary, and Jesus's visit to the city of Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover, when Jesus was twelve years old (Luke 2:41-50).
Following that episode, there is a blank space in the record that covers eighteen years in the life of Christ (from age 12 to 30). Some scholars believe that Jesus may have been inspired by the Buddhist religion and that the Gospel of Thomas and many Nag Hammadi texts reflect this possible influence. The four canonical gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, are the main sources for the biography of Jesus' life; nevertheless, these Gospels were written with the intention of glorifying Jesus and are not strictly biographical in nature.
In his thirties, Jesus began his public teaching and rumors surfaced that he performed miracles. Over a short period, Jesus' reputation spread. Leaders of the Jewish orthodoxy took note of him and felt threatened.
Jesus' most controversial act was that he repeatedly claimed to be the Messiah, which was considered blasphemy by the Jewish law. During this time, all of Palestine was under Roman Empire, including Bethlehem, where Jesus was born, and Nazareth, where he was raised. Therefore the religious leaders asked the Roman government to execute him. In each of several official trials, the Romans found that he was not guilty of breaking any Roman law. Still Jewish religious leaders, using the argument of political disfavor, persuaded Pontius Pilate, a Roman governor of the Southern province of the Empire, to authorize an execution.
Jesus was brutally tortured and then crucified. "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me." were his last words.
After his death, the number of his followers increased dramatically. According to most Christian interpretations of the Bible, the theme of Jesus' teachings was that of repentance, unconditional love, forgiveness of sin, grace, and the coming of the Kingdom of God. Starting as a small Jewish sect, it developed into a religion clearly distinct from Judaism several decades after Jesus death. Christianity spread throughout the Roman Empire under a version known as Nicene Christianity and became the state religion under Theodosius I. Over the centuries, it spread to most of Europe, and around the world.

Jesus: A Story of Enlightenment
(Hardcover)
The New York Times bestselling author of Buddha captures the extraordinary life of Jesus in this surprising, soul-stirring, and page-turning novel. Uncovering the transformational "lost years" that are not recounted in the New Testament, Deepak Chopra has imagined Jesus's path to enlightenment moving from obscurity to revolutionary, from doubt to miracles, and then beyond as the role of the long-awaited Messiah. As a teenager, Jesus has premonitions of his destiny, and by the end, as he arrives to be baptized in the River Jordan, he has accepted his fate, which combines extremes of light and darkness.
With his characteristic ability for imparting profound spiritual insights through the power of storytelling, Deepak Chopra's Jesus portrays the life of Christ as never before, ultimately leading us closer to understanding the nature of God and the soul. As the author shares, "I don't want the Jesus in this book to be worshiped, much less to push him forward as definitive. The events of the tale are pure fiction. But at a deeper level, the Jesus in this book feels real because we've gotten a glimpse into his mind. One flash of insight answers many prayers."
Pro Opinions

Completely baseless legends
These claims in the video that Jesus was travelling to Tibet and so on have no single supporting evidence. They are simply ferry tales with no validity.

Con Opinions

Christ the Messanger
Please explain important facts which have not been included in the description. Which facts are misunderstood?

Divinization is Why He Came
He took us down with Him, negatively speaking, into the baptismal waters of His death, and rose us up with Him, positively speaking, into the newness of life- which includes the new kind of humanity He inaugurated- where we become by grace what He is by nature.
Tat Tvam Asi ~ That Thou Art.
Peace.

Resurrected Flesh
One of the most Beautiful things about the Resurrected Flesh of the Universal Guru Christ Jesus is that the Glory of God flows through the veins of His Resurrected Flesh. Which begs the question what about the Blood? His Blood was poured out in the earth, and after the Resurrection gathered together that it might be poured out upon the Mercy Seat in Heaven, to stand forever as the Testimony of Witness in the HIGH Court of Justice as immutable evidence that the price for sin HAS Been Paid and will never again be an obstacle to the Grace of God.
That is unless you count Unbelief as the only sin you can commit in an AD World, in which case, you can believe you are separated from God's Love when in fact you are not because the Divine Genetics of Resurrection Resonance says different...
PS: The final words of Jesus on the cross were not why am I forsaken but instead were "It IS Finished" the 3 most beautiful words in the whole Bible..
Peace and Love Celestial Beings!!!

Okay...but...
I have always accepted the bodily resurrection of Jesus the Christ. That's not the problem for me.
The problem for me is the bodily ascension of Jesus the Christ, and ourselves if we accept the biblical message. The question that won't go away about this is really simple: What is the purpose of a corporeal body in a purely spiritual realm??
The best guess I have is that either bodily ascension is not really what the Bible is pointing at, or heaven is not a purely spiritual realm.

no not true he's a ball of enlightenment

Hi
Jesus is the Son of God, not an enlightened master.
Why not both?
Why is it have to be mutually exclusive? He can be the son of God and an enlightened master at the very same time. More accurately, he can not be only one of these. One requires the other.
Son of God -
I'm not sure anyone really understands what "son of god" means. We are all children of gods, including the animals, plants and stones. Actually we are more than children of God - from the absolute perspective, we are part of God; since God, by definition, is all inclusive, otherwise it wouldn't be God.
Enlightened Master -
I have no doubt that if Jesus, the human figure behind the legend ever existed, he was an enlightened master. If you read beyond the distorted interpretations of the Christian machine, like the way Meister Eckhart and Eckhart Tolle read the words of Jesus, you see his divinity.
~
Funny! You just proved her point. :)
By saying Jesus is the
By saying Jesus is the begotten son of god but not AN enlightened master ,you are looking down upon him..........coz even u n me r begotten son of god but not yet enlightened...........You are placing Jesus ,u and me in the same cateogary.............He is much higher than us but we can reach there........Even if u have said Jesus is the only begotten son of god than u r denying our potential to be immortal god like jesus......CREATION AND CREATOR ARE ONE
When I think of an
When I think of an enlightened master I think of someone who has become an enlightened master, hence the word (en-lightened). Well Jesus was the only begotten son all along, so he didn't need to reach that status, he was already far superior to man from before birth and never fell.
When I think ---First problem
* Everyone is the "only begotton son", which refers to the expression of Oneness, Beingness, God in form. Did you think God had sex and gave birth to a kid? Gee, maybe it's a metaphor.
* Enlightenment isn't a "status" to be reached by someone. It seems you're in for a disappointment. Enlightenment is the realization that there was never a person to "become" enlightened to begin with.
* No person is superior to another, except in the context of the dualistic illusion. (superior strength, intelligence, etc) Ultimately, all are an expression of precisely the same non-thing.
hellow
I find it sensible to accept that god had sex and gave birth to a kid or all gods are still having sex and giving birth to children rather than the children are getting dropped from heaven or being produced from virgin women...(Such situation will be paethetic).........coz divinity always flow with a nature n not against....... And if all this are metaphor then how many are familiar with it??????????Some maybe but not all.
Yes you are right in saying that enlightenment is not a status to be reached..........But all I know is that most of us are not in Garden of Eden after eating the fruit of Knowledge.I prefered to call it reach, but for that matter we can also say go back or still 'is' but forgotten or as u said there is no person to become enlightened with.......Its just a choice of words.........
Yes your third point makes lot of sense.......But the dualistic illusion still exist in me n till it is there with me I will call Jesus superior ..........Though I have read a lot about dualistic illusion but from within I have not experienced it in its totality..........so I cannot say much on this, maybe u r right.
I really don't know where to
"I find it sensible to accept that god had sex and gave birth to a kid or all gods are still having sex and giving birth to children rather than the children are getting dropped from heaven or being produced from virgin women...(Such situation will be paethetic"
I really don't know where to start with that.
"as u said there is no person to become enlightened with.......Its just a choice of words........."
It's of critical significance that a person does not become enlightened. It's not an issue of choice of words at all. The 'you' that you think you are can never become enlightened.
It's CHRISTmas! Where are
It's CHRISTmas! Where are the sensible men? WOW - The sensible men are MISSING! What kind of The vacations are is this anyway? Are you taken up in the "season" with this The vacations are thing?
my opinion
I agree that alot of the followers of Christ have no idea about the faith they practice. Jesus was about love, mercy and compassion, and the followers now and days seem to be more about judging and hate. I am for Jesus, not for religion.
