Has anyone here had any experience with spontaneous enlightenment, the classic sat-chit-ananda- bliss experience, where it occurs without provocation. No meditation,no reading scripture,no guru etc.Just like more of a "Grace of God" experience. It can last a few minutes, hours or even days.Just curious....

Enlightenment, whether

Enlightenment, whether spontaneous or not, is not a matter of a limited time. When it evokes, it is so for ever.

I think that what you mean is maybe satori which is a temporary glimpse of the feeling of enlightenment.

Regarding spontaneous enlightenment, there are several teachers who claim they had such a realization (it's up to you to decide whether they tell the truth or not, whether it is indeed enlightenment or not) -

Eckhart Tolle
Byron Katie

Well, I think enlightenment

Well, I think enlightenment is a form of self awareness to what is happening around you. It depends on you own perspective on how to deal with it.

It is much more...

Enlightenment is much more than just awareness to what is happening around, it's not something that characterized by what we do or aware of but rather of what is happening to "us", it has fundamental metaphysical aspects and if talking about awareness, one of the typical aspects associated is that you are aware of things beyond the senses, beyond "this world or this reality".

The identification with the body, mind and personality is eliminated and actually it's an explosion that at first may be uncomfortable, frightening and confusing and may include pain, both emotional and physical.

Most enlightened people actually say that their awareness of what is happening around diminished with the enlightenment. They say that you realize that the reality around you is not that real, is more of yet another dream and so you are less interested or fascinated by it.

Enlightenment is spontaneous and forever from that moment.
It happens depending on the practice of a practioner. Refer Patanjali Yoga Sutras.
There are three types of practioners.
1. Mild
2. Middle
3. Intense

The above each practioner subdivided into three - mildly-mild, mildly-middle and mildly-intense and so on.

The enlightenment is sponteneous and permanent to intensely-intense practioner.
It happens by the combined grace of God and Guru.
This is called Sat-Chit-Ananda. The one who gets this is established in it forever. He does not need to do any practice for it occurs natural to him. After attaining He cannot go away from it even if he does not want it.
