Meditating in Prism light

In your sadhana, has anyone ever read about meditating in the light rainbow of a prism?

An interesting fact regarding the light rainbow of a prism, is that there are 7 colors, which maps easily to the chakras.

In the book "A Search in Secret India", Paul Brunton visited many yogis and ashrams. One visit in particular was to an occultist who was doing experiments with concentrated light passing through a prism.

In the book, "Beelzebub's Tales to his Grandson", G.I.Gurdjieff describes an apparatus using prisms.

My idea is to create an environment where you can sit and meditate so that the light rainbow of a prism shines on your body. As the earth rotates, as each rainbow color passes by, you would visualize each chakra in turn, repeating the appropriate mantra, lam, vam, ram, ham, yam, om, etc

Have anyone ever heard of this, what do you think?

The alla atapam device

I once had this experience in the Matri Mandir in Aurovile, the sun rays come down from a small hall in the high ceiling of the central chamber and then hit the huge crystal located in the middle and through this prism the light divides into its color components. I think it had some effect but I couldn't define it in a precise way.

As to Paul Brunton, I would not pay too much attention to that story (I think that guy was from Varanasi and was dealing with Brigu Yoga). Brunton included the stories that sounded intriguing to him and not necessarily those that have spiritual value and was highly biased by his own first impressions and prejudice (e.g. his account about meeting Meher Baba or even Ramana).

Regarding Gurdjieff, I assume you refer to the alla atapam device. To the best of mm memory it was used there to experiment cosmic influences, not for meditation purposes.

Your idea sounds promising. Still, it's important that this prism addition will not distract from the main issue of the meditation: presence.

em fields

you are researching how light affects the human body, you are also researching how electromagnetic radiation affects the human body different em frequencies in the wavelength affect the human body There is a meditation based on this done by Christian Rosenkreuz in his place of jeevasamadhi he meditated under certain mirrors and bathed his body in a certain light, researching him might be of use to your experiment.
