Has any one heard of the enneagram ?

First time I have heard this word-enneagram.
Sounds interesting.
There are 9 types of enneagrams.

" A map of 9 perspectives or world views, which lead to a whole set of values, and motivation and behaviours." Each enneagram type determines how that person sees life situations.
" Having a world view,of one of these 9 types is limited, and seeing and recognising this , helps us to move beyond its confines, to a larger perspective"
It also shows how each type suffer,{ the passions}in different life situations, and how { the virtues } to help alleviate that suffering.

Can the understanding your wiring, through these 9 types, help one spiritually, and help in transcending self-identity?

A spiritual as well as a psychological tool for self-awareness, the enneagram offers a map, of the traps, the cul de sacs, that one habitually and unconsciously, falls into, and helps us to know the truth of who we really are, through looking at our patterns which form our reality and where our identity gets caught.

Heard a youtube video on Conscious TV, an interview with a Sandra Maitri ?....{didn't quite get her last name } on the 9 passions and virtues of the enneagram .
Also videos on each enneagram type 1-9.

Great tool to identify and watch our unique CONDITIONING

The Enneagram stricture is an excellent tool for an important and very distinct and focused spiritual mission: to identify and then watch our unique CONDITIONING system.

As we are a conditioned machine (our mind actually operates according to a predefined set of rules of if-then-else) and as the awareness of each one of us of our personal unique conditioning is key to going beyond the mind, beyond our robot-ness, the Enneagram system can function as a road map. Otherwise, we watch our thoughts and decision patterns but do not really capable of breaking free of them, our very watching process is still within the boundaries of this conditioning.

One important emphasis: do not give that system too much importance, use it as a road map but also remember that it is too rigid and so there are other personality types and grey areas.

Where identity is caught up

Thanks Hugo.
Came upon these videos, quite by chance, the other day.
Appeared to me to be a psychological/spiritual tool, that might show one where one is caught up in identification, and the sheer awareness of that, helps to move beyond it, literally catapults one out of that identification.
I guess different stuff, works for different folks.
Whatever works..!!

Horoscope and All Cyclic Process

Horoscope and All Cyclic Process are all enneagram. One must understand the Two fundamental laws to read it.

As long as there's identification

Dear joejo,
That's an interesting observation. I guess stuff like horoscopes as well, are valid as long as there's identification with a "person", a "me". Once personal concerns drop away, I guess it all becomes quite meaningless.
What are the 2 fundamental laws governing this, that you are referring to ?

Persona & Law

Persona (Mask) may be meaning less (may be not) but Law is all important thing to understand.

The One of the Two Fundamental Laws are the three fold way in which the forces operate. The forces being Sattva, Rajas and Tamas or Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.

The second is the hint given by the Seven planets signifying the seven steps it takes the energy to manifest the Physical, subtle and casual universe. Rahu and Ketu work as obstructions coming in between the physical and subtle on one hand and between the subtle and casual on the other. All together it makes the nine stages of the enneagram you mentioned.

Entire field of study..

Dear joejo,
This seems like an entire field of study.
There was a time when I was interested in the occult and learned a bit of numerology and the tarot. A lot of it was what the science/art said, a major part though for me was intuitive.
At a cursory glance and an on-line enneagram test, it figured that "I", was a type 9.
There came a phase, when there was no identification with the relative, completely broken down, as the pendulum swung to the other end-identification with the universal.
Today I've realised, they go hand-in-hand.
The cosmic and the relative.
Intertwined, inter-related, inter-dependant.
It's the play of the in-breath, with the out-breath,
of light with darkness.
Let the music play on.
And let's enjoy this play.

True nature

Knowing one's true nature as the Infinite Being,
and seeing the story or the play that appears within that.
Having taken on limitation, to experience certain aspects
The SELF, having an experience of a conceptual self.
