What the fuck does Nisargadatta mean by "I Am"?

Nisargadatta Maharaj gives seekers the same advice his guru gave him: abide in the "I Am".

Universal point of awareness

When you observe a mental object (a certain emotion, a certain thought, a sensation, etc.), after some time, the observed object dissolves into a dimensionless point.

The enigmatic sense of 'I Am'

sonti's picture

The sense of 'I Am' is your natural sense, you just may not be aware of it.

It's your distilled sense of being without the additions of body, mind, this world.

7 most powerful yet simple meditations

solo's picture

  1. Accepting and observing whatever is now.
  2. Self Inquiry - Observe your sense of "I", your many personalities, all these false "I"s you can observe as objects and therefore are not truly you, the observing subject. Make sure to observe these "I"s with no identification. Use the question "Who Am I?" but do not try to answer it intellectually, wait for the mental pointer to arise spontaneously from the question and direct you to a current sense of "I"

Do you remember that you also are?

You see this room and you conclude that it exists, can you conclude that you also exist?

You see this table in front of you and you realize that it is, can you realize that you also are?

"I AM" - Concept - Beware!

Ramakant Maharaj’s spontaneous response to questions on "I Am", yesterday.

Q. What exactly is ‘I am’ in simple words, and what is it not?

"I Am" - the trickiest notion of all

"I Am" - the trickiest notion of all.

So natural to the one who has traced it and so confusing to the one who hasn't yet.

So soft, so subtle that any effort is destined to block access to it.

Pointless point of view

.

To be or not to be, that is the question.
To be and not to be, that is the answer.
In the same time.
It's possible
by finding
the pointless point of view.
