Words, sensations, emotions and beyond

You can't represent sensations in words... Try to convey sweetness to someone who suffers from ageusia or light to someone who is blind from birth...

You can't understand emotions from words... Try to convey love to someone who has never experienced it...

How ignorant it is then to try to expect to depict the beyond of all these with words... It is either you tacitly underestimate spirituality or your skeptic addicted-to-words mind is in full control over you. It is probably both.

signposts and entertainment

words cannot speak. they can only serve as limited signposts and nice entertainment when they are. they have greatest benefit by far when they are not. then silence speaks. then stillness speaks.

Yes, this is true...

Questioner: Words like peace, bliss, eternity, immortality, catch my attention, as offering freedom from pain and fear. My inborn instincts: pleasure seeking and curiosity are roused and I begin to explore the realm you have opened. All seems most attractive and naturally I ask. Is it attainable? Is it real?

Nisargadatta Maharaj: You are like a child that says: Prove that the sugar is sweet, then only I shall have it. The proof of the sweetness is in the mouth, not in the sugar. To know it is sweet, you must taste it, there is no other way. Of course, you begin by asking: Is it sugar? Is it sweet? and you accept my assurance until you taste it. Then only all doubts dissolve and your knowledge becomes first hand and unshakable.

And the cake and the recipe

b e a u t i f u l ! ! !

Reminds me of another sage who asked a disciple of him whether he tastes a cake by inspecting the recipe.

But we keep forgetting this the next day.

We can't materialise all through words, spirituality is beyond words. We can only be concious about our sensations & feelings when we try to materialise them through words all is destroyed.

the 2 sides of the words

We constantly switch unconsciously to the level of words, forgetting that they are only pointers.

Great tools when we are conscious, unfortunate curse when we are not.
