Spiritual cost-benefit analysis

If you feel that you must seek something, do not seek knowledge, seek realization. Not necessarily self realization, realization of any kind. Realization MAY be still at your disposal after you pass away, knowledge of any kind will vanish with the wind.

This is a matter of simple cost-benefit calculation.

There is a lot of knowledge around because there are a lot of knowers around wishing to sell their knowhow, not necessarily in return for material possessions or money.

Realization is harder to seek and to find because it is not an object of the mind, because words cannot convey it, because others cannot present it to you, the most they can do is to point with their hands towards a direction, which is not too much because they always point towards your heart and you have already known it.

Realization is like love, except of the fact that this time you are completely alone.

If you feel that you must seek something, do not seek knowledge, seek realization. But remember that even this realization MAY NOT be at your disposal after you pass away.

Not necessarily of the self

Realization of any kind, not necessarily of the self.

This is enough for me as it keeps me happy. I do not need more.

So who is it that needs more?

It can only be the ego. Nothing else left.

What is it that is kept happy with realization of any kind?

Realization on demand

I truly don't find any need or interest in enquiring.

The whim

I admit that this consideration has some part in my decision to go on the spiritual path.

Another reason is that it is the most interesting thing I have ever encountered. Touching the essence of the core of the going inward. More interesting to me than Physics that touches the essence of the Kosmos, of the going outward.

But these are tiny reasons. The main reason why I find myself on this path is some mysterious sustainable urge - Meher baba called it "The Whim".

Cost and benefits

There's an infinity of infinitudes available beyond the dream of emotional attachment to trivia. Isn't this enough incentive to search within?

As far as what's available after "you pass away", why not pass away in your mind and find out?

Really ??????
Really you know your heart in true spirit?
Most of the people think so,but it is not true,as to know your true heart you need to dive deep & more deep in your heart and no one do it except one or two.

Brilliant and well written.

I recommend to read this short post thoroughly as it discusses maybe the most important aspect of our spiritual life. It puts the truth in front of our faces in a cruel direct manner - knowledge is useless, abondon all the texts and words and go to the silent, boring for the mind, realm.

Maharshi Maharshi Maharshi

True Silence is not comprehended by the mind so there is no point in playing with our imagined forms of silence. And there is confusion between inertness and stillness as well.

A saying of Laotze from Tao Teh Ch’ing was read out in the hall: “By his non-action the sage governs all.”

Sri Bhagavan remarked: Non-action is unceasing activity. The sage is characterised by eternal and intense activity. His stillness is like the apparent stillness of a fast rotating top (gyroscope). Its very speed cannot be followed by the eye and so it appears to be still. Yet it is rotating. So is the apparent inaction of the sage.

This must be explained because the people generally mistake stillness to be inertness. It is not so.

Oh and please excuse the Brady Bunch flash back in the subject title. I find myself quoting Maharshi on a regular basis. ;)

What is Realization?

I will not argue with you, Joy, but I will inquire of you how do you define realization.

The Bible's Adam and Eve story and how the buddha came to seek enlightenment are two primary keys I used to determine what realization is. Before Eve was taken from Adam he was real, his femininity and masculinity were integrated within himself therefore everything he saw was whole, a union of spirit and physical integrated into the real.

The same with the buddha. Living in the palace where he saw only beauty and life he he accepted everything as real, but once he left the palace and saw suffering, death, and the other opposites he sought to comprehend the differences and finally realized the integration of opposites or magnifiers are real.

Thus I conclude, realization is discovering the concrete opposites and magnifiers and their integration joining points is real; the illusion is attempting segregated the magnifiers and name them abstract opposites such as good/evil, love/hate, pretty/ugly and others.

Allow me to show you something!

Numbers 1 through 9 all have an equal negative which when added together equals zero (0); when we use them with a zero after them we are saying we have used the whole series of nine and beginning another series yet, only zero is whole. If we break our bodies down we will find many different life forms are united to make up the body and whenever any one life gets below a certain level its opposite becomes a disease and began to break down other component of the body. Together they shows us the realization of life. Duality exists on earth's plane and because we have characterized half of all magnifiers as a rejected part, seldom recognize the joining point of them like sunset to dark and first light to sunrise, and over indulge in the other half, we cannot find realization.
Have you questioned your beliefs? Reason the different concepts until all pros and cons are integrated into the 64,800 degrees of your vision.

What is love?

How do you define love? You can't - whatever you come up with is not love. The same with realization.

It is beyond the mind. I have it but I cannot convey it in words - it's something deeper than knowledge of any kind. It is confidence, it is understanding beyond logic.

When you encounter it, you will no with no trace of doubt that it is realization like when you unconditionally love you know beyond any doubt that you love.

Don't look for the answers in words and logic. Neither realization nor the definition of realization are there.

(I'm not talking necessarily about that which is called "Self Realization".)

Love Defined as "Indifference"

by: Elijah Alfred "NatureBoy" Alexander, Jr.

Love, a word which cannot be defined,
not what you do but a frame of mind;
yet it does create an effect
few are ever able to reject.

It does not build empires by setting boundary lines,
neither does it stake out claiming things as mine.
It's not selfish to any at all,
not to rich nor poor, nor great nor small.

It's not bias in any light,
not to red nor yellow nor black nor white;
but it does make every living thing your brother,
spirit your father and the earth your nursing mother.

The only real concept of love in in the difference between love and hate, as the above poem suggests.

The reason most people can't define love is because of what we are told love is. The only way to define is to experience it. The world tells us indifference means "I don't care" because they do not want people to become in he difference between love and hate. It means I respect because you are, have no desire to control nor be controlled by you and will share with you what I have to offer and expect you to share with me what you have to offer.

Our specie's name, man, means mind able to comprehend all things therefore there should be no thing we have ever encountered which is beyond our ability to explain. That is why the Bible calls man becoming enlightened and Jesus sons of god.

Knowledge and populistic redefinitions of realization

Great text.

I want to add something relevant to the above -

People are addicted to knowledge. They call it spiritual wisdom, truth and other attractive names but ultimately these all are simply substances for the addicted mind.

People are playing with new definitions of realization. They redefine realization to be something related to understanding, to knowledge. They extract from it the metaphysical essence. They keep realization within the limits of the mind because this enables their minds and egos to believe that they are realized.

No surprising, you will always see that those who commit the fallacy of preaching to chase knowledge are the same ones who proclaim or hint that they are realized based on their simplistic and superficial new definition of realization.
