Do I haveto rush for him or will he come to me?
Lem me enjoy the wait, meanwhile.

Some people will tell you

Some people will tell you that when the seeker is ripe the guru comes (e.g. http://www.gurusfeet.com/forum/stick-one-guru-or-be-open-many#comment-49) - there is of course a lot of truth in this.

Some will tell you to go and search for the guru - they are also right, I hardly ever heard of someone who found a guru and never actively search.

But these are not the important issues. The ones that are important are:

* why do you want a guru, truly. This is something we must ask ourselves over and over.

* A guru is not just a human external object, it can be an angry neighbor, a book, a dog that teaches you something, an internal voice. Indeed we do need at some point the external human guru because ultimately our mind will agree to listen, obey and surrender only to such an object, if at all. The mind, for instance, can always dismiss the internal voice. Until this stage, you don't need to look for a guru, do enjoy the wait while being attentive to an angry neighbor, a book, a dog that teaches you something, an internal voice. When you note that these do not serve anymore then actively look for a human guru.

And anyway, do enjoy the wait (remember to do so also when you have a guru) :-)
