Listen carefully, carefully to
the silence, silence,
It is telling you something,
Something, about our condition,
Condition.
One can rage, rage, against
the dying of the light, light
Or one can go gently into that
Good night, night, knowing full
well that one has never left.

Alone I sit now in the blackness,
In the darkness and silence,
At peace,
Knowing nothing, not being,
separate from the universe
to know anything;
Free of both self and other.
Two stray pets dumped off
At the humane society
For lack of an owner.
