Please explain what is meant by ‘Sarva dharman parityajya…’

Whenever justice competes with the injustice in the worldly matters (Pravrutti) we have to vote for the justice rejecting the injustice. But when God competes with the Justice (Nivrutti), you have to reject the justice and vote for God who is the protector of the justice. God is above everything and this should be proved practically. Then only you will win in the tests of God. The ultimate aim of following the justice is only to please God. Then what is the fun of voting justice against the will of God? Krishna asked Dharma Raja to tell a lie in the war. Dharma Raja refused against will of God. Dharma Raja went to hell for not telling the lie as per the will of God.

It is surrender

It is the secret of the secret pertaining to bhakti yoga and karama yoga; specially advised to beloved one the friend/brother Arjuna by Sri Krishna during the war of Mahabharata.
Let the God do all the things as He wills because His Will supersedes all in all. we remain the machines of His Who is operator of all machines. Machines are not responsible for the result of works done by machines but God the Operator is only responsible for all the work done by the machines. Machine has no power to oppose the operator.
If ego vanishes, person becomes Machine; if ego is with machine then machine becomes person (the individualized consciousness) who is bound to follow the principle of nature as well as the ethics of the society in which he has to reside. Now person has to do work for the releasing of his duties. With the fulfillment of these duties and ethics person is spoken to have done his Dharama. In the complexity of society and life to understand these dharama man confused and perplexed due to his liking and disliking.
On such confused situation man becomes directionless and Arjuna was gripped in such condition in battle field at Kurukshetra. This is called Vishaad-yoga.
To come out of this dilemma, Sri Krishna taught the secret of the secret to the beloved warrior the friend that is "SURRENDER".
Surrender the most dear things to Him. The most dears of ours are our ego,our selves, belongings and attachments etc. and 'DUTIES TO' these is called dharama. To warrior is the dearest of his field duty and this is his dharama. Grand-grand father is very, very respectable to serve to whom is the duty (righteousness)/Dharama of younger-ones.
Lord Krishna said to Arjuna, "Giving up all religions (righteousness, dharamas),surrender to me".
Real surrender is very, very difficult because it is not merely mental manipulation; because it happens spontaneously from the core of the heart. In the lack of this surrender prays are not answered by the God.
WE ALSO, GIVING UP OUR DHARAMAS (RIGHTEOUSNESS), SURRENDER TO ALMIGHTY LORD (SEEKING HIS SHELTER, PROTECTION, SHIELD). WE MUST BE MACHINES OF HIS HOLY FEET. JUST-LIKE THE WARRIOR ARJUNA WE WILL BE SAVED, PROTECTED BY THE SUPREME CONSCIOUSNESS WHO HAS BEEN THE DEITY OF OUR SAHASTRARA CHAKRA.
VICTORY TO LORD KRISHNA.

the real meaning

) The inner meaning of ‘Sarva Dharmaan’ is simply total dedication of yourself to God from all sides. Anything or anybody opposing this is a sin. Anything or anybody encouraging this is the real Dharma or justice. The worldly bonds are born to use your self as the instrument of their happiness only as said in Veda. Jesus also asks you to leave all the family bonds including even the bond with your life to become His real disciple. The responsibility of the people left by you is well known to God about which you should not worry. When you feel the responsibility the detachment is not complete.

The sage Narada told in his Bhakti Sutras that the devotee attracted to God is like a person who is attracted by a beautiful girl and subsequently leaving his wife for her (Jaravatcha …….). The attraction was so powerful resulting in the state of madness, where the discussion of justice and injustice does not arise. The people who are left by the devotee in such attraction to God will have their own lines of samskara in which God may or may not take the responsibility of them based on His over all decision. He will enquire the merits and defects thoroughly and will take up the proper action. The mother of Shankara was granted salvation and the wife of Buddha was not granted salvation.

The mother of Shankara suffered in this world after leaving Shankara but reached the abode of God finally. The wife of Buddha enjoyed all the luxuries here after leaving Buddha and did not get salvation. The souls have their own merits and defects for which you are not responsible. You are worried about them because you have not analyzed the worldly love which has selfish motive only and in such case where is the point of your responsibility to them?
