My second post. Do you think Enlightenment will ever be viewed positively in society and understood? I was labelled mentally ill, but in most ways I think I was mentally very well. Thoughts?

It depends if the person has FULLY realized the self

I don't think enlightenment is viewed negatively or as mental illness by society. I think that due to the unique wisdom expressed by those who fully realized the self and the special regard society has about religion most of those (genuine) enlightened people receive special positive attention. See, for example, how Puttaparty Sai Baba and the Dalai Lama were and are regarded and how many world leaders met with them ( and I don't even know if there are really realized).

I think that if and when one is FULLY realized, their energy draws positive attention to them. The problem is that there are so many who had a partial realization or preliminary stage of realization and they mistaken it for full realization and those cannot attract positive attention.
