People meditate for a variety of reasons. Some for peace of mind, others to overcome stress. Some for realizing "who am I?" Stilling the mind and single pointed concentration is required for meditation.. Meditation for me is a process of stilling the mind (repeating a mantra is useful for getting into this state as the mind tends to wander) with single pointedness.. concentrating at the eye center... then being absorbed, listening to the inner sound current...being aware and witnessing... piercing the light within.. which leads one to inner mystical experiences. A true master is needed as an inner guide for this practice as one can get misguided or misled even within their inner experiences.
