It does not matter if you go inwardly or outwardly, only how you go

Go inwardly or go outwardly, but just go.

It's not important if you go inwardly (who am i?) or you go outwardly (What is this force that maintains this system of forms?). Both lead to the same horizon.

But don't go inwardly in an egoistic sense. Don't get identified with what you see.

And don't go outwardly with desire. Don't get attached to what you see.

Try to touch a horizon

It's where nothing and everything meet, where minimizing and maximizing meet, where the inner and the outer meet.

In this, quality is more important than quantity, the "how" is more important than the "what" and "where".

There is no destination in that going, nothing you can perceive with your senses or understand with your mind. Try to touch a horizon.

Excellent guide

Both directions have their numerous pitfalls and problems (you mentioned the main ones beautifully). I still think that the inner is more constructive and less prone to tricks of the mind than the outer. I found out that at some point the mind does not connect nor impressed by the remarkable phenomenon of form and its perception and reruns to its normal ignorant view of taking things for granted.

Those who say
don't go but stay
do not understand
that there is nothing but movement.

In yoga this can be correlated with KARMA YOGA(go outwardly) and GNANA Yoga (go inwardly). there are different form of yoga's mentioned in Indian philosophy. The ultimate aim of yoga is to contact with the supreme. Yoga philosophy is one of the 6 indian philosophy and at present the literature is available from monograph of patanjali yoga sutras which mentions Astanga Yoga a path which can be followed to attain ultimate Bliss. There is systematic way to be followed mentioned in yoga philosophy. Meditation is one of the 8limbs of yoga. It has given 7 position in eight limbs of yoga.

Many people think meditation as spiritual path alone but there are other 6 steps to be followed before meditation. This is the real meditation or DHANYA(in Sanskrit).

Many people think breathing exercise is meditation but in reality this is a way to be followed before Meditation.

One Must Go To Both To Recognize Their Joining.

If someone had never seen either Mornings or Evenings how would they recognize their joining points? They would not! So it is with self realization, to realize one's self one must know themselves within as well as without. That's why the term understand means to began on top and worked through to the bottom of a subject matter to know that which is above, within and their joining points. Overstand, as used by some, means to began at the bottom and work one's way through to the top.
