If the Path is beautiful, ask where it leads; but if the Destiny is beautiful don't ask how that path is...

There have been never ending debates on whether we get to choose our destiny or is it that everything is already decided even before we were born. According to me, our life resembles a local train, although the destiny is decided and the haults which it takes, but the tracks keep changing. Different people board on at every station, some get off thr train. Our life will go on just like this 'train' and reach its destination. But the presence of a 'Guru' makes the track more pleasant and if happen to choose to wrong one, they get us back to right one.

A matter of perspective

I think life is both predetermined and is not at the same time (truth is paradoxical although the mind loathes and despises paradoxes). It just depends on the perspective: from the divine perspective there are the train rails while the individual that sits inside the the train does not see the rails and so from his perspective, life is not predetermined.

This triggers a call for all of us to get up from our first class seat and go and have a look from the tain window and see the rails as well as the incredible landscape view.

Truth is not paradoxical. Paradox is a direct result of the boundaries mind places before itself in the form of beliefs it will not see beyond. Life is not predetermined because there in nobody determining it ahead of time. It's happening now. The rails are placed now, the engine is stoked now, but it is all the movement of the totality of Consciousness itself, not any volitional individual. Only the Truth is True.

Pseudo Advaita

Truth is paradoxical because you are currently, whether you wish it or not, the mind, nothing else. What you wrote above for example is also pure mind based on mind's if-then-else logic full of mind's flaws and of tacit secular disbelief in anything metaphysical.

An example is your misunderstanding of the notion "here and now". You commit the same error pseudo advaitans do and draw false nihilistic conclusions. there is a lot of material you can read about it on the net.

Stating that nothing is predetermined and there is nobody predetermining is just a hypothesis valid as any other hypothesis and until you learn to discriminate between truth and speculations and avoid presenting speculations as truth with fake confidence you will remain stuck in the same favorable ignorance.

This is exactly the beauty of lilian's comment which does not fall into the traps you fall into.

Again, Truth is paradoxical because you are stuck in your mind and since believe you are a mind and nothing else, it will be very difficult for you to attain any clarity.

So, there is a God in the sky who has predetermined your life for you? I'll leave you to your childish ignorance, then.

Where God is...

"So, there is a God in the sky..."

Quite honestly, for most folks, the further away (from oneself), the better.
