Pujya Guruji, how do we ensure that our children learn to cherish their spiritual tradition and culture?

Parama Pujya Shri Shri Nimishananda Guruji's reply:-

The best way to do this is to catch them young. The younger they are, the fewer the mindsets and faster the absorption. They are very open and imbibe these traditions easily. When they are brought up in a spiritual culture from birth, it nurtures their spirit. When I was a small boy, my father taught me certain Sanskrit hymns or slokas and rituals. To oblige him, I recited the slokas and performed the rituals regularly though I did them mechanically. Now I know that the Divine Grace I received because of this really improved my concentration. This Grace also made many good things happen in my life. That is why it is important to teach children spiritual traditions at an early age. Initially, they may not show much interest, but as they follow these traditions, Divinity itself will teach them what internal stability and Grace is.

If they are brought up in this way, children are stable when they reach adolescence. Usually you see certain traits which are already deep rooted in youngsters who are just past their teens. Whether these traits are good or bad depends on their upbringing. As parents, we must give them a firm base in their lives. A strong yearning should be born in them – “Yes, Divinity is for me. I must tune into Divinity.” Parents are responsible not only for providing their children with a good education but also for instilling sound spiritual values in them. This is crucially important. When parents respect their spiritual culture and bring up children in this environment, children automatically learn to cherish these customs and traditions.

i wonder what u yourself think

u always quote this guru and only this guru. i think you lose a lot. what do u think? that's what interest me, not some other teacher or master - they dont come with anything special. try to give your original voice a try, dont underetsimate yourself, say what u personally think, otherwise it has no value, it is book value.
