We encounter duality everywhere as in opposing views. However, there could be a Third view which reconciles the two opposing views. Let’s take the case of God, Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Brahma and Mahesh have opposing tasks of Creation and Destruction respectively but Vishnu reconciles both.

Some may find it abstract and theoretical so let’s take an example of body’s autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system has two branches: the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system is often considered the "fight or flight" system, while the parasympathetic nervous system is often considered the "rest and digest" or "feed and breed" system. In many cases, both of these systems have "opposite" actions where one system activates a physiological response and the other inhibits it.

A healthy nervous system maintains homeostasis by balancing input from both branches of the ANS during activities ranging from relaxing, digesting and sleeping, to waking, feeling excited, and running. So I would say the third factor between two opposing responses is a state of homeostasis.

Homeostasis is a key concept in understanding how our body works. It means 'keeping things constant', and comes from two Greek words homeo, meaning 'similar' and stasis, meaning 'stable'. A more formal definition of homeostasis is: a characteristic of a system that regulates its internal environment and tends to maintain a stable, relatively constant condition of properties.

If we study the three forces we started with at the beginning we would see that all three forces oppose each other and dominance of a particular force at a particular time determines our state.
