Yes, I believe that's so. Do you see this as faith?

i do. faith is more than

i do. faith is more than selecting either one of the two general options. When it is deep faith, it means that all or most of your secular only-non-paranormal conditioning have evaporated - then you see true reasons not just the apparent cause & effect and realize that no one is responsible for his/her faults and deeds and a tremendous compassion springs, it is not the realization of oneness that also results in compassion, it is more basic.

Faith

I think people just like to use the word 'faith'. What does faith have to do with selecting options? And what in the world is "secular only non-paranormal conditioning"?

The realization you're talking about, and the fslling away of various conditioned beliefs, comes about through looking deeply into the matter with willingness, intuition, openness, clarity.

The more folks try to define faith, the more meaningless it seems to be.

Yeah, disinterest, mayhaps. Too many skeletons in the closet.

Skeletons...

... in and of themselves aren't scary. What is it in us that wants the fear to continue?

Oh, I see what you're saying. Yes, we need something to create tension to begin a movement toward or away from something, otherwise there's no mental/emotional movement for the mental/emotional 'me'. Just stillness. ::::Gasp!::::

Is there a point.....

.....you're trying to make with all of this?

Fear

I don't think anything wants the fear to continue. Fear is the result of ignorance.

Fear

Fear is something to be pushed away. We need something to push away, to offset against desire (something to move toward). Between these two poles, we are driven like cattle to the slaughter.

Stillness

Stillness, acceptance, peace, happiness and fulfillment. The last thing anybody wants, really... if we're happy, how can we continue the pursuit of happiness? ;-).

Everybody wants to seek enlightenment. Nobody wants to find it.

But if you say that too loudly, you'll be hated and banned from the forum. Folks don't like to have their delusions challenged. That's what I meant by it being radically personal.
