Dear ones,

Is it possible to enjoy while suffering? isnt this what we all are looking for in the end? imagine you could actually enjoy while you were depressed, anxious, heart broken, in terrible pain, and so on... imagine that in a way you could simply enjoy it (whatever that means for you). you might think that i'm talking about masochism or something like that, but this is not the case. I am speaking about simply enjoying while suffering, because if you think a bit when you suffer there is something inside of you that says when i am in pain it doesn't feel good or it hurts or whatever. is this a belief system, or a conditioning or what is it? would you be very happy all the time if you wouldn't have suffering, if you would just be enjoying everything at the same time? this would be interesting i think...

so maybe enlightenment is this, no suffering, no pain, nothing like this. who knows? only enjoying, always whatever happens, when it happens, where it happens. perhaps something to think about in this full moon night here in Europe.

Absolutely, it is possible!

I would change the question to "Is it possible not to suffer when we have pain (emotional or physical)?"

The answer categorically based on experience is YES!

This is the essence of the spiritual practice, to my opinion. It is so easy yet so many of us fall in this pitfall. The tool that breaks the link between pain and suffer is acceptance. I'm talking from experience.

I think it is described perfectly in http://www.gurusfeet.com/blog/suffering-not-caused-pain-resisting-pain. Just make sure to read it attentively.

Note the difference in meaning between the terms "suffer" and "pain" used there.

"I am speaking about simply enjoying while suffering"...

Depends how you (re)define the word "suffering", but no, I do not think it's possible. If you're enjoying, then by definition it isn't suffering.

Re;Enjoy while suffering

Hi Wahido,
Happiness and suffering are within the experience of duality or mind. Mind which is the experience of diversity is created and sustained by single substence which is spirit. Due to ignorance of this invisible substence which is the true self, experience of duality is experienced as reality.

By discovering and realizing the the invisible substence as self, the mind becomes aware of the reality, and experience of duality in which the pain and pleasure is present is mere mirage on the standpoint of the true self which is non dual spirit. Thus by manipulating the mind, as a person is not the remedy, it may or may not help everyone, on the spiritual point of view.
With respect and regards
