Do we have Energy to change?

I just wanted to share my thoughts on radical change in our lives. After all this is what each sincere aspirant hopes for, the ability to get out of the rut, the old grooves.

Now we know that any action requires the expenditure of energy and any fundamental change would require enormous amount of energy to overcome the momentum. Ramakrishna Paramhansa gave the example of a field full of holes through which water drained off no sooner it was filled. Now in our daily life there are many such holes through which we loose a lot of energy which could have been conserved and used for spiritual transformation. Some of them are obvious and some need investigation to be seen in oneself for there may be peculiarities or a particular way in which one is predisposed.

Talkativeness is one such weakness. Geeta while giving the description of a sincere seeker calls him lover of solitude. It may be a dampener but too much partying could certainly never be on the cards should we be sincere.

Second is the enormous energy we spend because of being Fidgety. We cannot be quiet with our body. Unnecessary tension of muscles leads to a lot of wastage of energy. WE must be mindful of this.

Third is that we are always in conflict. One of the main reasons for this is to focus on what should be rather than what is.

Fourth is that our thoughts run continuously. I mean we are thinking addicts.

And lastly but not the least our emotions are a big drain on us. We are on a roller coaster rides. Negative emotions are the biggest drain on energy. While we cannot do much about them at least we must not lend them our energy by constantly dwelling on them. But we take unique pleasure in expressing them and dwelling in them.

If we are sincere we must be mindful of all these things. If we care to investigate further and sincerely we will realise that Intelligence is nothing but "Energy".

Why change?

You assume that change is the hope of any seeker, you assume that a seeker must have a purpose.

Both are not accurate.

Wishing a change is, in other words, not accepting what is. And wishing no change is, in other words, clinging to what is.

The real hope of a true seeker is to be indifferent whether there is change or not.

And when he further evolves, he is even indifferent regarding this hope too.

Just accepting what is.

A matter of perspective

"The real hope of a true seeker is to be indifferent whether there is change or not."

Now watch it, because this is what i call the cause of conflict. The fact of the matter is that we are not indifferent to hurt (or change). But you come along and say that i must be indifferent thereby causing a conflict between what is and what should be. To maintain choice-less awareness requires tremendous energy. Hence we must conserve energy.

Even those who propagate acceptance of what is implies a CHANGE of our behaviour. Not just change but a radical shift is required in our psyche if we are to get over this quagmire.

There is no conflict in acceptance, just try it

This is what happens when the mind gets involved - it will always find some rule to negate what it wishes to negate.

If you try to practice acceptance you will see that there is no conflict, only relief. Trust me: leave aside the analysis of the mind and just do it and you will see. In a nutshell, "What is" is not your automatic reaction patterns, it is whatever happens to which the reaction occurs..

Acceptance

Hi Santana

"In a nutshell, "What is" is not your automatic reaction patterns, it is whatever happens to which the reaction occurs."

To accept whatever happens to you without reacting or to accept the reactions as they occur requires tremendous alertness and watchfulness unless we are merely theorising.

New age solutions a mere glossy words. That does not mean it is not possible but requires a discipline in which there is total clarity which can come only after total insight. To reach this needs lots of work. A wall does not feel hurt but then it remains a wall. Summation if energy can only come about with cessation of conflict and it cannot happen by any formula like Stay in the present or Acceptance.
