Children have so many divine qualities. Why do these disappear as they grow up?

Shri Shri Guruji's reply:-

Children’s minds are pure and innocent. Purity and innocence automatically lead to divine sense. However, when we, as adults, “train” children, this conditions and constricts their minds. That is why these beautiful qualities are either suppressed or corrupted. To live a happy and contented life, we need both divine wisdom and transactional knowledge. However, in most schools today, children are taught only transactional knowledge and skills for earning a livelihood and the Soul which powers everything we do is completely neglected. When this happens, children develop aggressive and demonic qualities instead of divine ones. Earlier, when children came to learn from enlightened Sages in their Hermitages or Gurukulas, they were first taught how to chant Vedic mantras. Since the chanting of these mantras confers both divine wisdom and transactional expertise, they effortlessly imbibed divine qualities. Unfortunately, as modern education has neglected the spiritual dimension completely, our children’s minds become disconnected from Divinity. As they forget their natural divine state, their wonderful qualities also recede into the background.

The reason is simpler

The reason is simpler and focused: survival, both psychological and existential.

Count on your own experience rather on opinions of others: if you happen to return to your being as a child through hypnosis, certain meditations or other spiritual techniques, you will see clearly and firsthand that you lose the inocense and the bliss due to pressure for survival when you feel that the enormous love and caring of your parents in the first days is starting to decrease because they must take care of other things like your brothers and sisters, making living and so on.

As I understand it it, it has something to do with

the brain activity becoming more beta oriented. Children spend a great deal of their day in alpha and theta brain waves. These are frequencies adults get into during meditation and states of relaxation, or poetic type moments. School rewards beta brain wave type learning--rote memorizaton, linear logical thinking, etc. The few occasions in which alpha and theta type brain activity is rewarded is in music and art classes.

So, naturally, for example in the US, adults develope with high Beta activity. And extreme high beta activity tends to stress and anxiety.

What did Jesus say again about becoming like little children? Something about, "Unless you become like these, the little children, you cannot enter into the present moment bliss of alpha and theta states"? Something like that. I like to paraphrase things so that they are more practical for me.
