Bhagavad Gita

Few pieces of literature have impressed mankind like the Bhagavad Gita.
To many Hindus it is the most sacred of all the scriptures. To me it is by far the most beautiful, powerful and also the most ENLIGHTENING piece of literature ever written.

The Gita literally woke me up. It did this because I ... could NOT understand its EPIC BATTLE. And it was so obvious that every expert on the Gita was an expert because they desperately avoided the subject of this Epic Battle with the same enthusiasm as Physicists use to desperately avoid their Uncertainty Principle.

My quest in life became to understand this Epic Battle ... and I wasn't going to allow some expert on the Gita, like Mahatma Gandhi, to convince me that the battle is irrelevant, or otherwise a SUPREMELY preposterous battle inside.

If the Gita was about finding the path to dualities like heaven or hell, or just a inner fight a person's heaven needs to be opposite to another's hell then experts would have probably convinced me with their BS.

But the Gita is not about dualities... it is the quintessential story for/to Nonduality: the Epic Battle is EPIC because it must be fought to Awaken to NONDUALITY.

What is perplexing about the Gita to almost everyone who first reads it?
Devout Hindus are vegetarian, they do not kill. The really devout Hindus are like devout Buddhists that don't even kill insects – and yet their most holy scripture STARTS with a battle in which not only humans are killed ... and not only family, friends, and teachers are killed ... but by far the biggest human bloodbath “Krishna,” -- the Gita -- could come up with. WHY?

Experts tell us that this battle is not outside but Inside. And this is by far the biggest BS an expert could possibly use to defy/insult/contradict the most fundamental concepts in Nonduality.

The Bhagavad Gita is all about the inner SELF.
Krishna was the projection of Arjuna's inner SELF to the outside – it is absurd to think that this inner Self could have a battle inside, or, with nonduality, that the thoughts inside can fight with each other.

NO, THIS BIGGEST or Epic Battle is most OBVIOUSLY the battle OUTSIDE in which everything that appears real OUTSIDE, Maya, is destroyed – including family, relatives, teachers, babies and friends.

Krishna's “NO-choice” advice to Arjuna leaves nothing to doubt about his Epic Battle. ONLY the battle for realization has no choice: if you want realization you MUST fight this Epic Battle.

Every other battle has choice, otherwise we would not have cowards.

in the Epic Battle of the Gita
-- to be Enlightened, Self-realized --
-- THERE IS NO CHOICE ---
everything outside that appears real must be destroyed
so that it cannot be real
it can only appear real – LIKE IT DOES TO Krishna.

and the joke is that in this EPIC BATTLE
nothing is ever destroyed
because there is nothing TO destroy.

It is the reckless and ruthless determination of destroying everything
-- that stands in the way of Enlightenment --
that vanishes reality into the exact same illusion, maya,
-- that it is for Krishna.

-- really, Really, REALLY

so says Swami Vivekananda...
" Then the Gita no better commentary on the Vedas has been written or can be written. The essence of the shrutis .or of the upanishads is hard to be undrestood, seeing that their are so many commentators each one trying to interpert in his own way Then the lord himself comes,He who is the inspirer of the Shrutis,to show us the meaning of them,as the preacher of the Gita and today India wants nothing better than that method of interpretation"
-Swami Vivekananda...

Zakly! And thanks to Jed Mckenna, I also realize Herman Melville's 'Moby dick' is precisely the same tale.

GITA

Very good point about the Gita.

The Battle is clearly pointing to the need to restore balance among the duality of existence without attachment.

One must achieve non-duality while living in duality to become liberated/transcended/etc.

Krishna personally drove the Chariot into the battle to prove that this point of detachment is the way in one's trip toward
The Eternal.
