Aum Sree Matre Namah:
The first mantra in Sri Lalitha sahasra nama describes the ultimate power as the mother of entire creation. Means from that power only everything has manifested. Hence whatever we experience in all the three states ( Jagrat, swapna and Sushupthi) are divine mother's manifestation or the unmanifested manifests in different forms with different names in different times.

Sri Lalitha Sahasra Nama

Om Lokah: Samastah: Sukhino Bhavantu

In Sri Lalitha Sahasra Nama is 1000 names of Parasakthi (The Supreme Power) It is said by the Mahatmas that whoever worships devi with this names (Mantras) will attain spiritual and material fulfilment. The house in which this mantra is chanted will never see poverty of food or clothes.

What are the names then?

So what are these 1000 names of Parasakthi? Can you specify the list? Or is any name designated to god is adequate for this purpose such as the names in 1,000 Names of God Project ?

Thank you.

Purpose of God's names (Reply to Sri Nathan)

Om Lokah: Samastah: Sukhino Bhavantu
1000 symbolise infinite.God is nameless and formless. But our mind cannot comprehend such a concept. So the mahatmas to help the seekers advaised different methods to concentrate on God. one of the methods is remembering the names , based on differernt attributes of god concept.Human beings have different minds. One path of seeking God may not suit the other.Same with the names also.A man is called Father by his child, Husband by his wife, Brother by his brothers and sisters, Boss by his subordinate etc..But the person who is answering them is same. Like that even if you remember one name or any name it is refered to the same God.So one name is enough if you can concentate on it. It is just like pulling the legs of a table. You pull only one leg but all the other three will follow !

Excellent description

This is a very good and clear explanation of the importance of different paths and names of god.

Though it is so obvious, there are so many spiritual people and mainly religious people who are not sure in their path and connectedness with God so they derive its validity by negating the other paths and depictions of God as if there should be only one path and name.

Will be lovely if you could add some of the names of God of this system to the 1,000+ Names of God project so that we could have a taste of the feeling and a reference.

Om

Sahasra namas of Divine Forms (Reply to Mr.Carlito Santo)

Om Lokah: Samastah: Sukhino Bhavantu
Thank you for you comment. There are many Sahasra namas on the divine forms of God Like Lord Vishnu, Shiva, Ganapati,Lakshmi,Durga etc enabling one to select as per his favourite deity.

However if we study the meaning of each mantra (name) of different deities ,we can understand that there are names which are common and also even if the name is different the meaning of these names are same ! Thus proving that each and every name is God's name in whatever form he is seen by a devottee. The purpose is same.....concentration and purification of mind (Chitta Suddhi).

When we say a word,it creates a corresponding form or feeling in our mind. That is, word and its meaning is not different.Every form creates an emotion or feeling in our mind which affects the mind's functions thus life will be affected accordingly.

So our Rishis gave names to God in such a way that the name will calm the mind of the devottee or give him a feeling of potection or fearlessness. Since fear is the base of all negative feelings, one who is fearless will lead a life which is purposeful and according to Dharma (Righteousness). Only a person who is afraid (has fear in mind) can become an evil peson.

The Rishis also gave forms & names to God as required by certain circumstances which is against Dharma. The purpose was elimination of Adharma(Unrighteousness). Thus we can also see angry forms and names of God ! The purpose is modification of mind frame of the devottee as per the circumstances.

Thus any name you like can be added to God's name keeping in mind the above mentioned principles.

Sri Lalitha Sahasra Nama

Om Lokah: Samastah: Sukhino Bhavantu

One of the Mantras 'Om Jagrat Sweapna Sushuptinam Sakshibhoothyai Namah' Means my humble pranams to the one who is witness to all three states of Jagrat, Swapna and Sushupthi. Meditating on this meaning we will realise that Sri Lalitha is the Brahman as called by the followers of Advaita.

Sri Lalitha Sahasra Nama

Om Lokah: Samastah: Sukhino Bhavantu

OM GUNATEETAYAI NAMAH: The entire creation is combination of all three gunas known as satwa, rajas and tamas.Devi incarnates in all three gunas; Saraswati as satwic form, Lakshmi as Rajasic form and Durga (kali) as Tamasic form as a situation demands ! But devi (Sri Lalitha ) transcends these three gunas. So she is known as gunateeta. (One who transcends the gunas)
