Biography

Aziz Kristof was born May 11, 1962 in Poland. His family was poor and of a different ethnic origin than the people in the village. During his childhood, he found himself continually isolated from the other children.

At the age of five, Kristof experienced his first awakening glimpse experience, a radical relocation into a dimension of Pure Consciousness.

After graduating and serving in the Polish army, Kristof began his intensive seeking and study of spiritual teachings. These teachings included those of traditions such as Zen, Tibetan Buddhism, Upanishads, and Sufism; and of teachers such as Krishnamurti, Osho, Nisargadatta Maharaj and Sri Ramana Maharishi.

Soon after, he decided to embark on spiritual traveling in the Far East. His first destination was China, followed by Korea and Japan. In these countries, he attended different types of Zen groups, Zen monasteries and retreats. These activities finally led him to some important experiences of establishing in a state of presence and abiding in the absolute.

From Japan, he traveled to Thailand and soon after arrived in India for the first time. There he met various teachers and gurus, mainly of the Advaita tradition, including Papaji, Ramesh Balsekar, U.G. Krishnamurti and Ranjit Maharaj.

At some point on his journey, on December 1996, according to his accounts, he became stabilized in the Absolute.

During the years after, Kristof has been providing satsangs and retreats in various places in India, mainly in Puna and Goa, combining Zen and Advaita principles.

In early 2000's, Aziz stopped satsangs for several years and gone into seclusion.

Recently, he has gone out of seclusion, changed his name to Anadi and again provides satsangs and retreats.

Teachings

A taste of Kristof's unique approach is provided in the Satsang transcripts attached below.

Kristof draws his principles from both Zen and Advaita and puts special emphasis on a "state of presence" which is in essence the state of being, the Advaita's sense of "I Am", in contrast to "I am this or that".

In practice, he is mostly in favor of the Zen Shikanza meditation. Shikanza, literally "just sitting," is alert non-selective attention which neither pursues nor suppresses thoughts, sensations, or any other observed mental object. Instead, alert detached attention is drawn to whatever arises in and vanishes from consciousness.

Enlightenment to Being is the realization of the Absolute State which unites you with the Uncreated. The experience of Being, as such, we would not call Enlightenment but rather an experience of enlightened energy. The Absolute is the very ground, the bottomless foundation of Being. When you surrender in meditation, energy links itself on some level with the Absolute Energy. It is still experienced within the manifested, but there is even deeper a connection with the Unmanifested.

The antidote against fear is trust. On some level, it is your choice…you make a decision to trust, for to trust is to take a risk. You may simply trust without being conscious of the risk involved. But in such a case, it is not trust anymore but rather a letting go to allow things to be as they are.

Pro Opinions

Great soul

lucas's picture

Great man, great soul. Met him once in Tiru many years ago. I hope that since then he managed to break his addiction to effort which seemed to be his (as of many others) obstacle to realization.

Clarity of teaching is unparalled

venkym's picture

No other guru points as clearly to awakening as Anadi/Aziz does. His message does not go down well with the "no effort" school of thought.

Con Opinions

Too much emphasis on discipline and meditation

avi's picture

He puts too much emphasis on discipline and meditation, maybe due to his zen origins. I saw what it did in the end to Zen people - made their mind and ego stronger and their psyche shakier.
