Biography
Ayyavu Guru was born in Chennai. He had the company of mystics from childhood. Later on, his parnets moved to Calicut in Kerala.
He joined the British East India Company's service in Chennai and then moved to Thiruvanathapuram, the capital of the former Kingdom of Tavancore under the British Residency. There hed rose to to a rank of Superindent and remained in service untill old age.
He is believed to have been taken to Africa over the sky by his spiritual mentors at young age. He practiced Sivarajayoga and had many disciples from different religions. The most famous among them is Sree Narayana Guru who liberated the so called low cste men of kerala from the clutches of ruling Namboothiri-Nair Combination.
He remained aloof from public attention and attained to Samadhi in old age near a burning ghat in Thycadu, Trivandrum.
He was very close to the Kings family.
A sivalingam is erected over his samadhi and regular worship is taking place.
