Like switching channels in the middle of breaking new

It's like switching channels in the middle of breaking news.
Like leaving the cinema theater before the movie ends.
Like watching a passing train from a zero distance.
Don't let the observer alone to dictate the rhythm. It will result in the observed strengthening the observer.
Don't let the observed alone to dictate the rhythm. It will result in the observer strengthening the observed.
Don't let the observer to dwell in the observed. It will result in an attachment relationship of the observer to the observed.
Remember - they are two that are one, they are two that are none.
Predefine an independant exit strategy. Observe, accept and exit; Observe, accept, and switch; Observe, accept and ignore; Observe, accept and next. Use your breath as a metronome.

I do it all the time
I do that all the time ;-). Switch channels in the middle of breaking news, end a song when it's 7/8ths over, turn a movie off before the ending, dump a long Email in the middle of composition. None of it matters anything, nothing is worth the slightest bit of attachment.
I say let the observer alone, let the observed alone, let everything alone. Let the "me" who wants to control all this, dissolve.

Ah you missed one! Do you watch passing trains from zero distance? :-)
Welll...
Only if I think to jump out of the way in time ;-).

a complimentary recommended post with the same theme: do not dwell.
Sure
If the observer is dictating, dwelling, attached, reinforcing something, it's not observing. As I think you imply, the observer is a made up stance taken by the mind that is observed, and so it doesn't really exist. The idea is simply to be aware, but if it's believed there is an actual observer, mind will likely assume it's identity.
pitfalls
Even in simple observation and acceptance, there are many pitfalls that can turn it into a doing, a counterproductive doing. One of these common pitfalls is the dwelling discussed above.
Therefore, it is important to list these pitfalls and a grace to know about them.

I agree. I was just adding my casual comments.
two that are one, two that are none
It is funny - the acceptance includes in it the relinquishing control but after mastering the Accept+Observe+LetGo as a way of life, at some point you feel a lot of control but different kind of control - an ability to empty your mind while the observer and the observed feel as one.
~
The observer and observed ARE the same, but there is no control in relinquishing control (not in that sense). This is just mind coming back in through the back door after it got sent out the front door, attempting to lay claim to the ability to control mind. If control is released (not something you are causing) then it must end there without mind grasping for the steering wheel.
crucial factor - the rythem of observation
This advise is crucial!
The art of observation should be with the least control possible and by trying to determine the pace we actually manage to impose the control and decide implicitly what we are going to observe and how.
